Infrastructure

Goals

To support the maintenance of strong transportation networks, efficient movement of goods, reduce congestion, and improve road safety.

Actions

Collectively prepare a letter to province to advocate for infrastructure improvements on roadways in the north central Alberta region.

Increase rail service for the movement of goods, the improved safety of highways and better air quality given less congestion.

Improve access to and quality of water to rural communities for agricultural purposes.

Lobby for maintenance and upgrades to highway along the #686 corridor. This includes bridge expansion and redevelopment over the Watino River to support expanded rail service, increasing the number of rest areas along highways.

Implement increased network of cell towers and broadband service across the region.

Explore ways to combine all funding sources across municipal, First Nations, provincial and federal platforms for infrastructure development and maintenance.

Build relationship with Northern Transportation Bureaus and work to highlight need for greater support.
